Originally known as the Sutter/Scott Street Commune or Kaliflower Commune, it promoted shared resources, group marriage, free anonymous art, gay liberation, and selfless service. Inspired by the SF Diggers and the Oneida Community, cofounder Irving Rosenthal also established the Free Print Shop, which supported uncensored radical publishing in the Bay Area.
