Scalloped/multi-lobed metal tag with two mounting holes (as issued for side mounting on early automobiles). Issued by San Francisco in the pre-state era (California state plates began 1914); these city tags helped fund streets and were required in pairs (LEFT/RIGHT). Condition: Original as found, with expected age wear, surface corrosion, scratches, and patina. Number and markings remain clear and readable. No major bends or repairs noted.
