This is a mid-century painting on illustration board by American artist Helen Prickett. It is unframed and measures 18 3/4 by 15 1/2 inches. It is in excellent condition but for minor rubbing along the edges from where it was once framed. I’m not sure if it’s acrylic or oil. The painting is signed lower left. According to her entry in Who Was Who in American Art, Prickett was born in Chicago and studied at the Art Institute, where she also exhibited. Prickett also worked as a book illustrator. This painting fits in the Ashcan and WPA schools of American art. It has the feel of an illustration, as a businessman tries to run down a trolley. Any help with the location of this scene? My first guess would be Russian Hill. Please message me if you have any questions. Thank you and good luck. This item is in the category “Art\Paintings”.
