Ira Hill Reed was born in Williamstown Virginia in 1833 and died in San Andreas, Calaveras County, California in 1915. He came to California in 1853 and settled in Calaveras County. He worked in mining, ranching, and real estate development, and was also a lawyer, county judge, and Calaveras County District Attorney. He was a Pvt. D, 4th California Infantry, from September 1861 to October 1864. From various Internet sources.
