The Roxburghe Club was formed in San Francisco on April 3, 1928 and was named in honor of the original Roxburghe Club of England. Struck in the shape of a book, The Roxburghe Club of San Francisco Medal signifies to all the purpose of this august organization to preserve and promote the importance of finely printed books and book collecting. An heraldic shield, bearing red and green in alternate quadrants, emblazoned on a field of white, symbolizes the Third Duke of Roxbughe, John Ker. The white field represents the purity of paper and its partnership with print. An ebony bar, edged with gold, dramatically crosses the medal; gold represents the riches of knowledge and beauty in fine printing. Initials “SF” on a field of forest green identify the clubs origins in calm and respectful civility. Put them in your shopping cart and request a total from me or wait for me to send you an invoice.
