An Artist known for his Atmospheric Landscapes and his Portraits he painted many portraits of the S. Opera Stars being that he was a patron. He was born in Germany (where they did a Retrospective on him in 1971) and moved to San Francisco after studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin. Here is an Impressive example of his work titled “Olive Tree – France” within a Landscape and Building on a distant Hill surrounded by Trees. This Incredible Atmospheric Painting by a famous Artist was part of a very nice Art Collection held by a dear Friend who we recently lost – he was a Rhodes Scholar, Art Historian and Attorney. It is signed and dated’36 in the lower left corner – while held within a very nice frame. It also comes with a great brochure on the Artist, which has a note to my friends parents and his signature where he gave it to them in 1948 – it also comes with a photo of the painting and the title on the back of the photo. This Wonderful original Painting is in Excellent Condition. It’s Wood Frame is in Very Good Condition – would be excellent but it has a small 7/8 inch dent in it’s upper left corner (which you can see in photo #10). This Dynamic and Beautiful California Atmospheric Impressionist Painting measures 21 1/4 inches by 17 3/4 inches in it’s sight size and with it’s matting and frame it is 31 inches by 27 3/4 inches.
