The product is an antique late 1800s to early 1900’s embalming fluid bottle from Eureka Fluid Works of San Francisco, California. It provides a historical glimpse into the methods of preservation used during that time period and serves as a unique collector’s item for those interested in antiques and science & medicine artifacts. The markings on the bottle provide several historical clues. The vertical graduated markings (numbered 1 through 16) were used by embalmers to measure the precise amount of fluid needed for a procedure. Company History: While the Eureka Chemical Company (which still produces “Fluid Film” today) dates its origins to the early 1940s, this specific “Eureka Fluid Works” branding and bottle style typically date from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. Local Lore: During the “last wet” New Year’s Eve before Prohibition started in 1920, some San Francisco saloon owners reportedly went so far as to pass off embalming fluid as whiskey to desperate patrons. This bottle is extremely rare. Not many out there.

LP Steam / Glycol heated still. The column is hybrid and you can install the included bubble plates. The plates and bubblers are made of copper. It has three plates. If you want to run in pot still mode, these can be removed. Between each plate is a CIP ball ready to be used with your CIP cleaning system. I don’t have one so I just plumbed it up to a water line with a cutoff – it makes for a quick easy rinse down. There is a coil reflux condenser at the top of the head. The still comes with a stainless steel shotgun condenser and a pneumatic agitator. All gaskets and seals work flawlessly, and I’ll throw in an extra set. This is a great still and a perfect size for a small / medium sized distillery. For an additional cost, I can convert this still for electric elements, if desired.

The next one is marked very faintly Simonds, shows light scratching on both sides from use, and lt. Pitting areas that are mostly smooth. They all appear to be very straight, the smallest length though is just a tad bit off from being perfect at one end.

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS. ON ADDITIONAL TOLL CROSSINGS. OF SAN FRANCISCO BAY. DIVISION OF SAN FRANCISCO BAY TOLL CROSSINGS. This is a first edition printing of that report. This Report of Additional Toll Crossings of San Francisco Bay is a 144 page (not including the figures/drawings) softcover book, with tan covers and brown writing and drawing on the front cover. The report is illustrated with many glossy black and white photos, 15 tables, and 78 figures, many of which are fold-out drawings of the proposals in the report. Due to the congestion on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, discussions were started in 1946 to build a parallel bridge and/or trans-bay tube to the existing San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, called The Parallel Bridge and Southern Crossing. This report is the results of the findings of the Division of San Francisco Bay Toll Crossings and is divided into three parts. Part one covers the history of trans-bay crossings, preceding investigations, the present problem. Part three is the summary and conclusions and the recommendations of the Division of San Francisco Bay toll Crossings. The report is in good plus condition with wear and fading to the covers. The last ten pages or so, as well as the back cover, have dog-eared lower right corners. No other loose or torn pages. No unwanted writing or notations that I could see. The report appears to be complete. This is a pretty cool piece of San Francisco Bay Area history. For those of us who commute on the highways of the Bay Area, we know how things turned out, but it’s pretty neat to see what the process was to get to where we are today.
