513 (Washington & Jackson Line). 1920s-1940s San Francisco, California Sepia-toned gelatin silver photograph in hand-carved wood frame 13 × 10 in framed. Captured along the historic Washington & Jackson line, this sepia-toned photograph depicts Cable Car No. 513 bearing the Powell Street Railway Co. Taken at a time when cable cars were both a practical transit solution and an emerging cultural icon, the image preserves a clear view of the open-grip design, platform signage, and period fashion of its passengers. The hand-carved wooden frame, with its beveled corner motifs, enhances the photograph’s timeless quality. Likely taken between the 1920s and 1940s, the piece offers both a technical study of early 20th-century photographic printing and a nostalgic view of San Francisco street life. This is a true photograph, not a modern reproduction, distinguished by its warm tonal depth and silver-based print texture. On display at the Disco Freedom Gallery, 818 Hyde Street, San Francisco.

This is a mid-century painting on illustration board by American artist Helen Prickett. It is unframed and measures 18 3/4 by 15 1/2 inches. It is in excellent condition but for minor rubbing along the edges from where it was once framed. I’m not sure if it’s acrylic or oil. The painting is signed lower left. According to her entry in Who Was Who in American Art, Prickett was born in Chicago and studied at the Art Institute, where she also exhibited. Prickett also worked as a book illustrator. This painting fits in the Ashcan and WPA schools of American art. It has the feel of an illustration, as a businessman tries to run down a trolley. Any help with the location of this scene? My first guess would be Russian Hill. Please message me if you have any questions. Thank you and good luck. This item is in the category “Art\Paintings”. The seller is “jebbie56″ and is located in this country: US. This item can be shipped to United States.
