Here’s a really rare piece of horse racing history and the only example I’ve ever seen in many years of collecting. This is a 1897-98 Pacific Coast Jockey Club Souvenir program/yearbook covering the races at Ingleside Racetrack in San Francisco, which for a short time was a pretty major racing venue. This is not a daily program with the entries for the particular races, but is more of a yearbook publication with a list of the meet’s stakes winners, leading horses, jockeys, trainers and owners. This has a nicely made leather or leather-like cover, kind of like you’d see on a fancy restaurant menu, and then about 40 pages of great photos, information and ads about racing in that era. There’s a nice photo of Ormonde in here, who was a great horse in Europe and then came to California as a stallion. This is in amazing condition with just a spot of writing at the top of the first page and no rips, tears or creases. There is a bit of staple rust. It measures about 7″x10″. At the War Memorial Opera House[2][better source needed], with three member states refusing to sign: The Soviet Union, Poland and Czechoslovakia, all part of the Soviet Bloc, and a further two states refused to send representatives: India and Yugoslavia. Condition – all pages accounted for; full-height bend near middle; two full-width bends roughly 1/3 and 2/3 of the way up; other wrinkles/bends as well; holes in the last couple of pages at the lower staple; one bit of handwriting in ink on page 18 where someones corrected Harry Feldmans birthdate in the blurb about him; one-time owners name rubber-stamped on the back cover in six places; quite a bit of soil on the back cover; mild soil otherwise.
