Unsure of age but appears to be a vintage piece. Framed it measures slightly over 17×14″ and painting is approximately 14×11″. Please see photos for details and thank you for your interest! Mission San Francisco de Asís (Spanish: Misión San Francisco de Asís), commonly known as Mission Dolores, is a Spanish Californian mission and the oldest surviving structure in San Francisco, located in the Mission District. It was founded on October 9, 1776, by Padre Francisco Palóu (a companion of Junípero Serra) and co-founder Fray Pedro Benito Cambón, who had been charged with bringing Spanish settlers to Alta California and with evangelizing the local indigenous Californians, the Ohlone. Next to the old mission is the newer and larger Mission Dolores Basilica, built in 1918 in an elaborate California Churrigueresque style.

A vintage perhaps 1950’s or 1960’s watercolor painting of Mission Dolores, in San Francisco, signed illegibly at lower right. The work, 9 by 12″ (15″ by 18 in a quality Jerry Solomon distressed-style frame) is beautifully executed by a trained artist. The name “Helmuth Wagner” has been suggested but perhaps we are mis-reading the signature. There are minor paper digs at top above the roof and at lower left, showing as lighter areas.
