DESCRIPTION: Original and Extremely Rare and Vintage David Bowie 1972 Handbill (leaflet and mini poster) from Bill Graham Presents for David Bowie’s concert at Winterland in San Francisco California on October 27 & 28 1972. The record album “The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars” had been released earlier that year. An article from the S. Examiner newspaper regarding David Bowie is printed on the backside. I inherited this handbill from a music memorabilia collector who found it on a sidewalk in San Francisco in 1972, hence the dirt smudges. I have only seen one other come up for sale and that was a few years ago. These were promotional paper handouts and were also affixed to telephone polls and other street posts and most were likely tossed into the trash after the concert. Very difficult to find. Measures 5.5 x 8.5 inches. CONDITION: Very good condition. Has a small tear to one side and a small piece of clear tape on the bottom front center area. Up for grabs are two (2) vintage concert ticket stubs : Lollapalooza (July 26 1991) and Porno For Pyros (May 29 1993). As you can see, they are pretty immaculate. The Lollapalooza concert took place at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountainview, CA (outside of San Francisco). The Porno For Pyros concert took place at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco. I attended both concerts. The tickets were then placed inside my Jane’s Addiction and Porno For Pyros CD jewel cases, where they have remained protected for the past 30+ years. NOTE: it was also during this show that the front barrier collapsed onto people in the front row (including me). Perry immediately stopped the concert and helped us out; nobody was seriously injured. ANOTHER NOTE: at the very end of this show, as the band took a bow, I climbed on stage and gave Perry a big hug before security yanked me off him and threw me out the back door. Lollapalooza was conceived and created in 1991 as a farewell tour by Perry Farrell, singer of the group Jane’s Addiction. The first Lollapalooza tour had a diverse collection of bands and was a commercial success. It stopped in more than twenty cities in North America from mid-July until late August 1991. The inaugural Lollapalooza lineup was diverse and made up of artists from alternative rock (such as Siouxsie and the Banshees who were the second headliners), industrial music (such as Nine Inch Nails), and rap (Ice-T rapped and used the platform to launch Body Count, his heavy metal band). Porno for Pyros was an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, United States in 1992, following the break-up of Jane’s Addiction. The band comprised former Jane’s Addiction members Perry Farrell (vocals) and Stephen Perkins (drums), as well as Peter DiStefano (guitar) and Martyn LeNoble (bass). The band released two studio albums, Porno for Pyros (1993) and Good God’s Urge (1996), before parting ways in 1998.
