This is a great Chesleys Jigsaw Puzzle from 1970’s of a San Francisco Cable Car. It is about 13 1/2″ by 10″ in size. It has about 211 pieces. The original box is just an old stationary box with a new label put on it for the puzzle. It is original for the puzzle. I love the image. It has a lot of great detail. The puzzle is in excellent shape with no damage. Below please see more info about the history of Chelsey’s Puzzles. Puzzles Cut by Roland Chesley of Buckfield, Maine, in the 1970s. In the early 1970s we found and commissioned Roland Chesley of Buckfield, ME to cut many puzzles for us. Chesley was in his mid-80s at the time, but had started cutting puzzles shortly after WW II and charged prices comparable to Great Depression prices (penny and a half per piece). He cut in an old barn heated by a wood stove fed with rejects from the nearby dowel mill, even in the dead of a Western Maine winter which could get as cold as 30 degrees below zero (F) with 3′ of snow! Like so many cutters in the 1930s he used pictures from old magazines and calendars, especially Currier & Ives prints, although we supplied him with most of the prints we wanted made into puzzles. His cutting was purely random when we first met but we showed him some of our old family puzzles and he began to employ some color line cutting and figure pieces shortly before his death in the late 1970s.

Beginning her photography career in the 1980s with the restoration of the Willard Hotel in Washington, D. She gradually expanded her nationwide project across all fifty states and territories, creating an extraordinary archive of over 100,000 images. All products are made by our printing and framing partner in the USA. If you are looking to frame yourself choose Unframed Art Paper or Rolled Canvas which are perfect for using existing frames or upcycling thrift store finds. If you prefer a ready to hang canvas piece right out of the box we have Stretched Gallery Wrap Canvas or Black Float Framed Canvas. Rolled Paper is a semi gloss digital paper printed full bleed (No white border). Fine Art Paper is a higher quality cotton rag paper more like watercolor paper. The ink will soak in more and give a lighter slightly textured appearance. Prices shown are printed full bleed (No white border) but can be printed with a 2 printed border on request. Rolled Canvas is our standard matte canvas with a natural artist-grade finish. Rolled Premium Canvas is a semi-gloss canvas with a brighter finish and richer color depth than our standard rolled canvas – closer to the look of a varnished gallery print. Framed Art Paper is a premium poster print set in a warm walnut-finished frame – the natural wood tone gives it a classic, gallery-ready look that settles easily into both modern and traditional rooms. Arrives fully framed with a shatter proof acrylic front and ready to hang straight out of the box. Gallery Wrapped & Stretched Canvas 1.25 Deep Bar with Mirror Edge (Extra edge is cloned on so you see the full image on the front). Float Framed Canvas is a narrow black wooden frame around a stretched canvas. There is a small gap between the canvas and frame making the canvas appear to float. It is of course secured firmly at the back. Arrives in a box ready to hang. An exceptional and historic Real Photo Postcard (RPPC) showing the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco while it was still under construction in the mid-1930s. This rare view offers a close-up look at the massive southern cable anchorage and the approach viaduct on the San Francisco side. The surrounding area is clearly still an active construction site, with the bridge’s famous towers rising in the background. Postcards showing the bridge being built are considerably scarcer than the standard tourist views printed after its completion in 1937. This is a fantastic historical document of one of the world’s greatest engineering achievements. Type: Real Photo Postcard (RPPC). Location: San Francisco, California. The photographic image is sharp and clear with great detail and strong contrast. The card is very clean on both sides with sharp corners. A beautifully preserved example of a rare view. Please see the high-resolution scans for a detailed assessment. A must-have for any collector of San Francisco history, the Golden Gate Bridge, or historic American engineering projects. This description was generated by AI – it may have some inaccurate details about the card. I try to vet all information myself, however some details may be overlooked. Thanks so much for checking out this vintage/antique postcard! Be sure to browse my other postcard listings. I will happily consider offers for all of my postcards! It may show as “delivered” once it reaches your local post office-even if it hasn’t arrived at your door yet.

Vintage 1950s San Francisco Cable Car Souvenir Box – Made in Japan, Ted Lewy Style?? Bring a touch of mid-century charm to your home with this vintage ceramic souvenir box featuring a raised relief scene of a San Francisco cable car climbing a steep hill, flanked by stylized skyscrapers and pagodas. The playful composition and vibrant glaze are strongly reminiscent of famed illustrator Ted Lewy’s lively depictions of 1950s San Francisco. Was likely produced as a tourist collectible during the post-WWII export boom and captures a whimsical, almost cartoon-like perspective of city life. The inset lid fits securely atop the base, making it a functional piece for storage as well as display. ? A delightful accent for collectors of vintage travel memorabilia, mid-century ceramics, or San Francisco history! ? Approximate Dimensions: 7.25″ wide x 4.25″ deep x 2.75 tall. ? Condition: Very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Moderate age-related crazing throughout. Glaze remains glossy and colors are vivid. ? Stylistic note: The figures and composition closely echo Ted Lewy’s signature artwork seen in 1950s tourist prints and postcards – a charming visual reference for collectors.
