Up for sale is a a nice May 1873 Patent Levi Strauss & Co. “On May 20, 1873, San Francisco businessman Levi Strauss and Reno, Nevada, tailor Jacob Davis are given a patent to create work pants reinforced with metal rivets, marking the birth of one of the world’s most famous garments: blue jeans”. Shortly after the patent was received Levi Strauss & Co. Overalls were advertised in many newspapers. See the screenshots of the old newspaper ads in the last gallery images. This rivet is in very nice condition for being around 150 years old. The rivet is made of copper and measures about 9.6mm in diameter.

San Francisco Ulloa Street sign. Up for sale today is this Ulloa Street sign. The sign is made to the 1921 specification, which was the first style used citywide in San Francisco. Signs in this style were still being posted until 1946, and remained in service for several years thereafter. An original of these is very rare to find scrapped. Most of them vanished long ago, when they were replaced with the more modern issues. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without paying a small fortune on the collector’s market. I can make any street name sign, from San Francisco or any other city! Ask about your favorite street! The sign is the same size as the original, 21¾ by 4¾ inches, and weighs about 2 lb. This is a high quality, heavy steel remake, printed on one side. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close! Would you like a street name not seen here? Or perhaps a different style? I can of course make these signs with any street name of your choice, and not just this style, but the newer 1946, 1965, and 2009 styles, and even the classic mileage, direction, and route shield signs from the era. I just acquired a large collection of antique blue & white historical plates (mostly Wedgwood and Adams). I will be separately listing all of these plates today – collect the whole set, or fill in your existing collection. This plate is: San Francisco (7 scenes). The souvenir plate shows seven landmarks in the San Francisco area: a Bay view (note no Golden Gate bridge), b Junipero Serra monument, c Japanese Tea Gardens, d Hotel St. Francis, e Cliff House from Sutro Heights, f Lick Monument, and g Mission Delores. Hallmark: printed banner “Ye Olde Historical Pottery”, Staffordshire England. Sometime between 1906 earthquake and WW1, most likely circa 1910. Dimensions: 10″ diameter x 1″ profile depth. Small rim glaze pop which could be manufacturing issue – can feel it when running hand around edge, but not big enough to be considered a flake or chip – but could have been caused by plate hanger. Underside has light crazing without discoloration. Colored transfers are intact, with good color and without scratches or erosion. No chips, flakes, breaks, mends, repairs, cracks, hairlines, blemishes, or mentionable boo-boo’s. No signs of previous repair or restoration. Average unpacked weight: 1 lb. Note some photos appear redundant because I take photos from all po ssible angles. On symmetrical items, these photos may appear redundant when there are no distinguishing differences or condition issues between side views. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt.
