Vintage Aerial View of San Francisco Watercolor Painting Description and Item Information Up for sale is this unframed, watercolor on paperboard by Walker. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This wonderful painting depicts an aerial view of San Francisco homes within the hilly, coastal landscape. The watercolor is matted but not framed. The art paperboard is affixed to the mat board via strips of tape, verso. The sight area within the mat measures approximately 21 3/4 inches by 29 1/2 inches. The exterior mat measurements are approximately 28 1/2 inches by 36 3/8 inches. Unpacked, this piece weighs about 1 pound 10 ounces. This would be a fine addition to a collection of California art. Identification There is a stylized name at the lower right which appears to say, Walker. The scene depicted looks like San Francisco, although the location is not labeled and the piece is not titled. Unfortunately, I do not have biographical information about this talented artist. The exact age of this piece is not known, but it is believed to be vintage. This painting was acquired in northern California. Condition This unframed piece looks very good overall, as shown. There are no holes, rips, creases, or water stains. Under close inspection, I found a light smudge mark to the mat (right side) and a small (less than 1/4 inch), faint mark to the painting (lower left). Some tiny dots and drips of watercolor paint are as made. The watercolor paperboard is affixed to the mat via tape, as shown in Photo 6. Terms of Sale 1. For your consideration is a very large map of the San Francisco downtown area. This map appears to originate from building owners and managers association at 68 Post St. It has been estimated that this map was made around 1971. Its construction appears to be of a thick, rigid stock with the map adhered. It is kind of soft and glossy to the touch, but does not appear to have any coating. Lots of really neat details can be found, I found my house! Definitely a conversation starter. You can see tons of old buildings and sites that are no longer in the city. You can find San Francisco landmarks under construction, like the Transamerica building and the BART station. The Broadway tunnel had not yet been built, and there were a lot more parking lots! I cannot understate that this is large. Make sure you have the space to put it on a wall, because I dont! It measures 47 by 37 and weighs 25lb. Its size makes it really fun to look at and pinpoint areas. There are some water spots, which are mostly around the edges. See the photos, as they show most of the water spots. Overall, the shape is not completely flat. There is a uniform curvature to it, likely from humidity? In my opinion, it almost looks natural, but it is there. Other than that, there are some blemishes, which I have tried to capture in photos. My non professional opinion is condition is 7/10. I will gladly deliver this anywhere in the city of San Francisco for free. I would also deliver anywhere in the Bay Area at a rate of 50 cents per mile from SF(calculated one way).
