Whitlow had a twenty-year career in the United States Air Force, and during World War II, saw combat as both a bomber and fighter pilot. Ronie Lott played college football for the University of Southern California (USC), and was honored as a consensus All-American. A first-round pick in the 1981 NFL Draft, he played for the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Raiders, New York Jets, and Kansas City Chiefs of the NFL. Lott was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000 and the International Sports Hall of Fame in 2023, and is widely considered to be one of the best of all time at the safety position in NFL history and one of the best players in NFL history. Lott also played in 20 postseason games, recording nine interceptions, 89 tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and two touchdowns. Additionally, he was named All-Pro eight times, All-NFC six times, and All-AFC once. Beyond statistics, Lott had an uncanny awareness of how a play was developing, which allowed him to break up passes and earn a reputation as one of the hardest and most efficient open-field tacklers in the history of the league. Lott was selected in the first round (8th overall) of the 1981 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. The level of skill demonstrated by the 6-foot, 203-pound standout was instantly recognized, and from the very beginning of training camp he had the job as the 49ers’ starting left cornerback. This is a vintage 49ers jacket by “California Athletic Limited”, “A Division of Califame”, in gold nylon, USA made. I looked up Califame and they are a hat company in LA. I guess this was some spin-off company that copied Starter and Chalk Line jackets. It doesn’t say NFL anywhere so they probably weren’t licensed to make them but I really have no idea. The front “SF” patch looks embroidered, the back letters look like the ones you usually see. Definitely 80’s/90s vintage. This item is in good pre-owned vintage condition but it has a couple of flaws. PLEASE NOTE a small worn spot above one snap and a little “divot” to the side of one of the snaps. This garment is tagged a size 46. Following is the measured size of this garment. This may differ from your expectation based on the tag size. Sleeve: 35 (midpoint of back collar to end of sleeve).
