Leather photo album and 62 original photographs included, mostly cabinet cards and CDVs, with some tintypes and a couple of smaller formats.. All dating back to the Civil War period to about circa 1890. All but a couple or few are from California cities, including Colusa, Sacramento, San Francisco, Woodland, Santa Rosa, Marysville, Napa and San Jose. Although not identified, the man and woman in listing picture #4, upper left corner, appear to be William Byas Gibson and his wife Mary, so some of the people could be members of the Gibson family. The Gibson Mansion still stands and is a museum in Woodland, California (more info can be found on Wikipedia). The ID’d man, Dr. Hallam, is buried in Brownsville, Texas, so there could be a Texas connection as well; two of Hallam’s brothers are buried in California. The album is missing its clasp and there is some damage to the leather on the spine. The inside is in very good to excellent antique condition. The vast majority of photos are in very good or excellent antique condition, with a handful having some issues.

This is a group of three original 1880’s / 1890s cabinet cards. These images feature three American soldiers from the late 1800s. The photographs, measuring 6 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches, were taken by Peerless Studio, 215 Kearny St. Each photo showcases the soldiers in their uniforms, two of the photos show the men holding their caps with crossed cannons for Artillery branch of service. On the back of each card is written information such as the name and home town of the soldier, so there is great research potential. Two soldiers are from Kentucky, and one is from Kansas. Amazing that these three photos have stayed together well over 125 years! This group is a collectible that would make a great addition to any antique photograph or military history collection.

Nice unsigned boudoir size cabinet photograph showing buildings along California Street at Sansome Street in San Francisco. Two men stand in front of a building on California St. The closest building has the windows either draped on have unusual awnings. Signs for Guardian Assurance, and another building has barber poles. Original pen description along the bottom edge. No photographer is noted. Very light scratches on the image.
