Surveying Expedition, it shows a southward view of the city looking down Sansome Street from Telegraph Hill. Most of the buildings visible had been constructed after the Gold Rush in 1849, so the paint was probably still wet on them. Plus, you don’t normally see the goats in the foreground much these days on Telegraph Hill. Printed at lower right of print is: LITH. CURRIER 152 NASSAU ST. COR OF SPRUCE N. The print is nicely detailed and hand-colored with watercolors. The upper corners of the printed area have rounded corners. Print area is 20-3/4″ by 11-3/4″, matting is 2-1/2″ wide, and frame is 27″ by 18-1/2. The print and matte are under glass.
