Title printed in black within a yellow field with red pictorial border; illustrated throughout with maps, portraits, and photographic plates. Includes a “General Map of California” reproduced from the map issued by the California Development Board, Arthur R. Briggs, President and Manager. Volume II: The Men of the State. Biographical sketches of prominent Californians, each page printed within red pictorial borders depicting agricultural and frontier scenes. Illustrated with halftone portraits on yellow panels; includes a “Relief Map of California” reproduced from the California State Mining Bureau, Lewis E. Both volumes printed on coated stock with high-quality gravure illustrations. Condition: Very good overall. Light rubbing and minor fraying to spine ends and corners; a few faint scuffs to boards. Some offsetting and mild age toning to endpapers; occasional light foxing and top edge staining, marginal smudging to text. Bindings tight, contents clean and well-preserved. An attractive and substantial turn-of-the-century survey of California’s industries, civic development, and leading figures, prepared under the auspices of the California Development Board shortly before the Panama-Pacific Exposition. Combining boosterism, economic analysis, and photographic documentation, it captures the state’s rapid transformation in the early twentieth century.

From my limited research, the California Brewing Company of San Francisco was in operation from 1954 to 1958. The company produced Gold Label Beer and heavily featured western themes including a horse drawn Conestoga Wagon and other cowboy related imagery. This paperweight features a bear and has a really nice blue printing. I haven’t been able to find anything quite like it online. It measures about 3 inches in diameter and about 1.5 inches tall. The glass is in good shape with no meaningful chipping or scratches. The printing on bottom demonstrates some wear and tear.

Published for the History of the World by Henry Bill, New York. Fine early view of San Francisco, looking out over the City from the West towards Yerba Buena Island. Published only 5 years after the beginning of the Gold Rush in 1849, the view shows the boom town and remarkable growth of the City. Though by this time San Francisco was a bustling, robust settlement, it was still quite a small community, with the buildings merging rapidly into the rural surrounding hills. 16 x 9 inches, very good condition for age, quite clean and great color! Does have a very small repaired stub tear of 3/4 inch in the border margin (does not extend into lithograph).

Up for sale is a 1947 San Francisco, California l icense plate topper. The Presidio of San Francisco, located at the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula, is a former U. Army post that now serves as a public park and is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. This topper would look great in a collection of California license plates, advertising, or old auto toppers. Measures about 11 inches long and 3.5 inches wide. The plate is in 100% original condition, with no touch ups or restoration. It is in great vintage condition, and shows only a little wear and character from the years of use and storage. Antique 1894 California Mid-Winter International Exposition metal case with hinged lid from San Francisco, CA. 3 1/4″ x 1 5/8″ x 15/16. It weighs almost 6 ounces. May 19, 1906 has been scratched into the bottom of the case by a previous owner.

California Miners Bank San Francisco 10 D Token Coin Gold Color. I believe these were anniversary coins. I’m unsure when they were remade. We know they’re not golden composition. A little over 1 inch in diameter. I have not seen any other of these types. Nothing can take the place of an original. These are NOT the originals. They do not have any markings saying copy on them.
