Title printed in black within a yellow field with red pictorial border; illustrated throughout with maps, portraits, and photographic plates. Includes a “General Map of California” reproduced from the map issued by the California Development Board, Arthur R. Briggs, President and Manager. Volume II: The Men of the State. Biographical sketches of prominent Californians, each page printed within red pictorial borders depicting agricultural and frontier scenes. Illustrated with halftone portraits on yellow panels; includes a “Relief Map of California” reproduced from the California State Mining Bureau, Lewis E. From my limited research, the California Brewing Company of San Francisco was in operation from 1954 to 1958. The company produced Gold Label Beer and heavily featured western themes including a horse drawn Conestoga Wagon and other cowboy related imagery. This paperweight features a bear and has a really nice blue printing. I haven’t been able to find anything quite like it online. It measures about 3 inches in diameter and about 1.5 inches tall. The glass is in good shape with no meaningful chipping or scratches. The printing on bottom demonstrates some wear and tear.
