Phyllis Ciment -California Modern -Downtown San Francisco City View 1970s/80s. Phyllis Ciment is an award winning artist born in Los Angeles and now makes her home in San Francisco. Classically trained at the School of the Arts at Boston University, where she received her BFA and the “Outstanding Painting Award”, she then earned a MA at the University of Miami. Ciment has exhibited and had her work in numerous galleries. She has achieved mastery in a wide array of media including oil, acrylic, and pastel. Painting the City by the Bay has been an inspiration as well as her profession. The Golden Gate National Park Service has commissioned her work for reproduction of historical sites. Ciment’s work is in the collection of Bank of America, Kaiser Hospital, the Zellerbach Family Collection, and listed in the the Archives of American Art in the Smithsonian.
