By Samuel Maunder to Which is Added A Complete History of the United States to the Present Time, Including the Late War with Mexico, California, Etc. Edited by John Inman. The Whole Embellished with Numerous Engravings, Representing Battle Scenes, Coronations, Etc. I and 1855 Vol. 760 pages; 744 pages + 1 page ad. Black moroccan embossed leather over boards with gilt lettered spine, red labels, and gilt embellished panels. Marbled endpapers and edges. Ex-library with embossed blind seal, penciled in Dewey decimal on blank page after text in volume II. Both volumes have scattered foxing and light staining here and there in in text– volume I more so than volume II. The fold-outs are listed below. Volume I: Spine is well worn, missing labels and has cracks at back and bottom hinges though intact. , and extremities are well worn. Hand colored Map of the Nations is torn, folded incorrectly and has creases. Volume II: Spine well worn, extremities very rubbed, corners worn through, library mark in fountain pen on bottom label. Fold-out of San Francisco is in very good condition with just usual folds, a weak area at intersecting folds, tear at left just touching image area and some foxing to far right border area.
