Up for sale is a a nice May 1873 Patent Levi Strauss & Co. “On May 20, 1873, San Francisco businessman Levi Strauss and Reno, Nevada, tailor Jacob Davis are given a patent to create work pants reinforced with metal rivets, marking the birth of one of the world’s most famous garments: blue jeans”. Shortly after the patent was received Levi Strauss & Co. Overalls were advertised in many newspapers. See the screenshots of the old newspaper ads in the last gallery images. This rivet is in very nice condition for being around 150 years old. The rivet is made of copper and measures about 9.6mm in diameter.
