SAN FRANCISCO CABLE CAR Authentic Cable Section and Grip Die. This set includes a section of cable resting on a section of grip die. The section of steel cable is made up of 6 strands of 19 wires around a sisal core. It was taken out of service in 1984 and is wrapped in a metal band with a brass medallion. The medallion on the cable read. I believe it is presentation piece. I was told they decommissioned this cable in the mid 80s. It is also resting on the gripping die. Measures Approximately 3 inches by one and a quarter inches.
