Rare 1923 Photo Ace Motorcycle Dealership Olcott Cummins San Francisco CA
Rare 1923 Ace Motorcycle Dealership Photo Olcott Cummins San Francisco California CA. Approximate size: 4.25 inches x 3.25 inches. You can clearly see the dealership owner’s name and the address on the sign behind the man on the left. It appears that he and an associate are fueling one of the motorcycles with gasoline from a metal can using a funnel.. It’s rare to see this in a photo from this time period. Usually, people are posing with their motorcycles and not doing an action pose such as this. Often, there are entire groups of collectors who only seek antique photos of people fueling vehicles, and usually those vehicles are cars or planes and not motorcycles. Olcott Cummins started out in the motorcycle trade in Eureka, CA for several years, then for a time in Los Angeles. He was a native to Oakland, CA. When Cummins opened his dealership in San Francisco, California, he had help from Dave Crommie, who was a leading member of the San Francisco Motorcycle Club. They often went on rides together. One business savvy move he made was making use of postcards as tools for advertisement. As part of his early marketing, he sent out between 800-1,000 postcards as means of following up those who visited his dealership and would give him their address. This photo is quite rare. At the time of writing this, no other photo of this Ace Motorcycle dealership (or any other Ace Motorcycle dealership) exists on this website. Very few photos of any Ace motorcycle exists for sale either. Add this worthy piece to your collection. Included in the pictures are snippets from a magazine article in Motorcycle & Bicycle Illustrated that came out about him in 1922. These three snippets (the last three pictures in the listing) are included only for reference purposes and are not part of the item for sale. The only item for sale is the single photograph in the main listing picture. Please inspect the pictures, as they give the best representation of condition. May have discoloring, edge or corner wear, marks, creases, fading, smudges, corner or edge bends, tears, or corners missing. Please note that the bottom right corner is missing from this photo.
